What Do Emu Birds Eat

What do emu birds eat
What do emus eat in captivity? Adult emu feed formulas contain some 14-17% protein, often non-medicated poultry pellets. Diets can be enriched with everything from leafy green vegetables to fruits, seeds, grains such as oats, mealworms and dried crickets, meat scraps or any other healthy food that the emus take to.
What not to feed emus?
Fast Foods: Never feed your emus with junk foods and other foods rich in sugars as they can make birds obese. Citrus: Citrus fruits can change the behavior of your birds and make them peck their feathers. Chocolate and Sugars: Just like with pets, these are toxic to emus.
What fruit can emus eat?
Emus love fruit, especially during the long hot summer months. A whole watermelon doesn't last long with our flock! Emus like all kinds of fruits: apples, kiwis, grapes, melons, berries of all kinds. Try them all to find our your Emu's favorite.
